Lama Deceiver
Posted on 12 November 2013 by VincentBig pike like big flies. Of course, that’s not always true But using big streamers often brings big pike to hand. In the next video Peter van Ruitenbeek ties a big pike streamer, the Lama Deceiver.
The Lama Deceiver was originally tied by Herman Broers. A dutch fly tier that’s known for his big pike flies. It’s a fly that has a big silhouette, but it’s relatively light to cast. Okay, it’s a big ass streamer, with natural materials, therefore not the lightest fly. But given the size it’s relatively light.
Peter uses 2 different sizes for the eyes. He does this to create a jerkbait-like action.
Materials used
- Ad Swier Pike fly hook #8/0
- Thread: UNI GSP 200 denier
- Chartreuse & Orange Islandic Sheep
- Chartreuse bucktail
- Chartreuse chenille
- Flashabou
- Epoxy
- 3D eyes (2 different sizes)
- Black marker

Like that streamer! Nothings beats natural fibers imho…
I absolutely love this pattern. Simple, quick, inexpensive, and just downright sexy to look at!
