Two weeks ago we did a weekend fishing on Lake Oostvoorne and tried some seabass fishing on “Europoort” near Rotterdam. Seabass fishing was very tough, but there were some nice surprises around the corner…
Spring and autumn are typically times when the Daddy Longlegs (or cranefly) start coming out. These larvae live on land (although there are some aquatic subspecies), but adult cranefly are bad fliers ofter fly near lakes and get blown into the water. Therefore they are an easy target for a lot of trout.

Last weekend De Ronde Bleek organized an event called “The Evening Rise”. It means fishing from 6PM till you sleep in your bellyboat, and rise and shine at sunrise to fish the morning rise. We were looking for some partners in crime, so we beamed the 0031flyfishing logo into the air. This signal was immediately picked up by the dudes of Flyfishing Nation. Ivan, Paulo and Stephan joined us for the session. Also some cool dudes from Belgium were game.
A couple of weeks and we’ll be fishing the Yucatán flats again. We hope to encounter a lot of bonefish, tarpon and perhaps one or two permit. In preparation for this trip we’re tying a lot of tropic flies. This week I tie the “El Zorro Loco” or, the crazy fox. A crazy charlie with a fox wing.

After fishing together on lake Oostvoorne, Paul and I were talking about Pike fishing. Paul owns a boat and lives near one of best waters for big pike in The Netherlands. Every year a lot of 120cm+ pike are caught, and even some 130cm+ ones. Big pike for sure! I got an invitation from Paul to fish these waters with him.
