It’s weekend again and we feel the need to fish, so we started a small fire on social media and Whatsapp. Quickly our smoke signals are being picket up by Paulo of The Flyfishing Nation crew. He is in for some fishing with the Dutchies because his partner in crime, Stephan, is fishing Swedish waters for pike. Read more >>

Spring and autumn are typically times when the Daddy Longlegs (or cranefly) start coming out. These larvae live on land (although there are some aquatic subspecies), but adult cranefly are bad fliers ofter fly near lakes and get blown into the water. Therefore they are an easy target for a lot of trout.

Last weekend De Ronde Bleek organized an event called “The Evening Rise”. It means fishing from 6PM till you sleep in your bellyboat, and rise and shine at sunrise to fish the morning rise. We were looking for some partners in crime, so we beamed the 0031flyfishing logo into the air. This signal was immediately picked up by the dudes of Flyfishing Nation. Ivan, Paulo and Stephan joined us for the session. Also some cool dudes from Belgium were game.

A couple of weeks and we’ll be fishing the Yucatán flats again. We hope to encounter a lot of bonefish, tarpon and perhaps one or two permit. In preparation for this trip we’re tying a lot of tropic flies. This week I tie the “El Zorro Loco” or, the crazy fox. A crazy charlie with a fox wing.

Sometimes there’s the odd by-catch… This one is a Gibel Carp or sometimes called Prussian Carp. Funny fish…

First spring days

Finally, some nice spring days here in the Netherlands. For us it meant looking for bows on Lake Oostvoorne. Very difficult day. The wind even made it a bit chilly. Luckily we found some fish after all.
