Sometimes in Mexico

Posted on 9 December 2012 by Vincent

Mexico, the land of Mariachi, tequila and drug wars. A beautiful country with lots of great fly fishing possibilities. A couple of weeks ago we visited the Yucatán peninsula to explore some of it’s most amazing fishing spots.

We took some GoPro cameras and a couple of DSLR’s with us, to shoot some cool pictures, and a lot of video material. This time we tried to capture a lot of takes on camera. The GoPro camera’s are perfect for these situations.

Our target fish were Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon. We tried to fish on Cozumel as much as possible. The bones on Cozumel are bigger on average compared to most bones found in the more popular southern areas. There’s also a pretty good chance to encounter a couple of ghosts of the flats: Permit!

Enjoy our video! Oh, if you ever have the chance to visit the Yucatán area, be sure to give Nacho from bonefishcozumel.com a call!

Thanks Jasper! Yup, Palometa nymphing was awesome. Think if you’d use a 10ft #5 you can have fun all day!

    Hi Vincent,
Great report looking to go back again myself. Which hotel did you stay at and which guides did you use at Boca Pila. Thanks.

      Hi Snakedoctor,
We stayed at Riu Tequila, perfect stay. We didn’t book a Guide at Boca Paila. Don’t think you’ll need one. We only booked a taxi driver to drive us there, he stayed with us all day haha.
      Cheers,
      Vincent
